Online conference to summarize the work of the Government's Steering Committee 138 and the National Steering Committee 389

On January 17, the Government's Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control (Steering Committee 138) and the National Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389) held a national online conference to review the work in 2023 and the direction and tasks for 2024. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Government's Steering Committee 138 and the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the conference.

At the provincial bridge, there were comrade Phan Tan Canh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Steering Committees 138 and 389; and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

In 2023, the work of preventing and combating crime and smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods was strengthened; many cases, incidents, networks, and violators were promptly detected and handled, preventing hot spots of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, contributing to ensuring political security, social order and safety. During the year, there were 58,086 cases of crimes against social order nationwide, an increase of 0.07% over the same period in 2022, of which the most prominent were crimes related to property appropriation; high-tech crimes; human trafficking domestically and abroad; violations of laws on corruption, economics, and smuggling; violations of laws on the environment, resources, and food safety; Violations of drug laws... In the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, in 2023, ministries, functional forces and localities detected, arrested and handled 146,678 violations, an increase of 4.95% over the same period in 2022.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the results achieved by the Steering Committee 138/CP and the National Steering Committee 389 at all levels in 2023. In order to achieve high results in the prevention and control of crime, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp, deploy and seriously and effectively implement the Directives of the Government , the Prime Minister, the Steering Committee 138/CP and the National Steering Committee 389. Each ministry, branch and locality should further promote crime prevention, closely combining social prevention and crime prevention. Detect and strictly handle acts of taking advantage of, covering up, condoning, assisting criminals and violating the law. Strengthen and perfect the coordination mechanism between levels, branches and organizations in crime prevention and control. Building a contingent of cadres and civil servants of law enforcement agencies with sufficient qualities, capacity and prestige to serve the people, ensuring the requirements of crime prevention and control in the new situation. Actively applying information technology in the fight against increasingly sophisticated high-tech crimes. Strengthening inspection, detection, prevention and strict handling of organizations and individuals violating discipline and laws, covering up, assisting and protecting smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; linking the responsibility of the head with the work results of the unit and locality under his/her management.
