Checking the landslide situation at Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities

Faced with the landslide situation caused by prolonged heavy rain, the authorities of Vo Nhai commune urgently inspected the scene and directed a remedial plan at Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - where a large sinkhole appeared, threatening to affect the school's public housing area.

According to the records of the commune authorities, as of July 12, the sinkhole was located close to the fence of the public housing area, about 3m in diameter, 5m deep, extending from the foot of the wall down to the Can stream. This area continues to have a high risk of landslides, especially when the rain and floods continue to be complicated.

Immediately after receiving information from the School, Mr. Pham Minh Phuong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vo Nhai Commune, directly went to the scene to inspect. Here, the commune leaders requested relevant units to quickly develop a plan to handle the landslide, ensuring the safety of staff, teachers and students; at the same time, promptly fix the sinkhole to stabilize the physical conditions of the School before the new school year 2025-2026.

On the school’s side, Principal Dang Thi Hai Yen said that as soon as the incident was discovered, the school’s leaders notified the authorities and asked all staff, teachers, and employees to stay away from the landslide area. The school is working closely with local authorities to handle the landslide area.
