First time organizing national 7-a-side women's football tournament

The 2024 National Women's 7-a-side Football Championship (WVPL-S1) aims to create more prestigious playgrounds for female players, especially with the popular 7-a-side football genre, contributing to helping the women's football movement continue to spread widely, creating the potential to attract more attention and investment.

The 2024 Thien Khoi Cup National Women's 7-a-side Football Championship will be held for the first time in Hanoi , bringing together 8 strong teams from many provinces and cities across the country. The teams will be allowed to use 5 female players.

Hoang Thi Loan is excited to have a 7-a-side football field for women.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan - General Director of Vietfootball shared: " WVPL-S1 will be the starting tournament to gradually open up the national 7-a-side football tournament system for women, like what has been built for men's football. This is positioned as the top 7-a-side football playground for women, thereby spreading and promoting the women's football movement in Vietnam more strongly, creating more playgrounds and more income for female players, attracting the attention of the audience, the media and stronger social investment for women's football ".

8 teams registered for the tournament include: SV Su Pham, Kun Lady, Que Lua, Paint Khang Cat, Phu Dong Ben Tre , Dong Nai University, Head of National Economics University, Head of Bac Ninh University of Sports. The teams will be allowed to register 5 former players/female players currently playing professionally.

The tournament takes place over a week from November 9 to November 17. The teams are divided into 2 groups, playing a round robin and finding the 1st and 2nd teams in each group to enter the semi-finals and finals.

With the slogan “Football for the community”, VietFootball always upholds the mission of joining hands to contribute, together create value, demonstrate social responsibility. In that journey, VietFootball always receives support and coordination from the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Vietnam Football Federation, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and accompanying and sponsoring units.
