According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs , upon hearing the news that Li Keqiang , former member of the Politburo Standing Committee of China and former Prime Minister of China, passed away on October 30, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent condolences.
The telegram was sent to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji and Li Keqiang's family.
The condolence message affirmed that Mr. Li Keqiang is an outstanding leader of the Chinese Party and State, who has made great contributions to the successful implementation of the "first centenary" goal and the comprehensive building of a moderately prosperous society in China.
At the same time, he made important contributions to developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, especially promoting the deepening of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the new era.

Earlier, on the morning of October 27, Chinese state media announced that former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang had passed away.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Li Keqiang suffered a sudden heart attack on October 26 while in Shanghai. He passed away at 0:10 a.m. (local time) on October 27 at the age of 68.
Mr. Li Keqiang was born in 1955 in Dingyuan, Anhui Province (China). He started working in the local youth organization in March 1974 and gradually rose to the central level.
He then successively held leadership positions in Henan and Liaoning provinces before joining the Politburo Standing Committee of China in 2007 and becoming China's premier in 2013. He served as China's premier from March 2013 to March 2023.
Li Keqiang holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a doctorate in economics from the prestigious Peking University, according to the South China Morning Post . During his tenure, Li Keqiang visited Vietnam in October 2013, shortly after he took office.
