Monaco are in no rush to sign Paul Pogba and could wait until October to make their debut for the midfielder.

Pogba still has to improve his fitness.

Pogba, 32, signed for the Ligue 1 side on a free transfer earlier this summer but has not played in the recent pre-season, having last played in September 2023.

Since joining Monaco, the midfielder has been on a special training programme to improve his fitness. Pogba is said to have shown positive signs during his training in England.

However, Monaco's board is in no rush to bring Pogba back to the pitch. The current squad has plenty of options in midfield, second only to PSG in Ligue 1. This allows Monaco to arrange the time for Pogba to feel most comfortable on the pitch.

Pogba had expressed his desire to play against Le Havre, the team where he began his career, in the opening match of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season. However, this idea was rejected.

Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro told the BBC : "I can guarantee that Pogba will not be on the pitch against Le Havre. We need to be realistic. It will take three months to complete this training process."

Pogba is likely to make his Monaco debut in October. French media reports say Pogba has made a good impression on his new teammates. With his confidence and charisma, he quickly connected with both veteran players and young talents in the team.
