On the afternoon of January 4, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said that recently, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has had a policy to receive 7 artists living at the Ho Chi Minh City Artists Nursing Home and transfer them to the Thi Nghe Nursing Home.
But according to the wishes of the veteran artists who want to celebrate the Lunar New Year at the City Artists' Retirement Home for the "last time", because this place holds too many memories. The Departments and Branches have approved and decided that after Tet, in February, the relocation of the veteran artists' residence will be carried out.

"Currently, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City is developing a project to add the function of providing medical care for artists in Ho Chi Minh City. The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will consider so that Thi Nghe Nursing Home not only takes care of artists in the theater field but also expands to other artistic fields" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy informed.
Ho Chi Minh City leaders are always interested in resolving difficulties and meeting the wishes of veteran artists. Two cases will be sent to Thi Nghe nursing home in February: writer and artist Mac Can and artist Huynh Thanh Tra (Kim Cuong Drama Troupe).
Currently, seven artists remain at the Artists' Retirement Home, including: Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, Le Tham, Ngoc Dang, Hoa Tranh, Ngoc Be, Lam Son, and stage worker Dang Thi Xuan.

It is known that in the draft project submitted to the City People's Committee, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to name the area reserved for artists as the Ho Chi Minh City Artists Nursing Home (located in the Thi Nghe Nursing Home) and will be expanded to include many artists in other fields such as: music, dance, circus, magic, fine arts, photography, literature and folk culture.
Artist Mac Can has been living in a rented house with his younger sister. His family is poor and has been living on the help of his colleagues.
People's Artist Kim Cuong said that every year she organizes the program "Intimate Artists" and gives him a gift, because the son of writer and artist Mac Can is very poor and also lives in a rented house.
Artist Huynh Thanh Tra has been living in a nursing home in District 8 for a long time, with no relatives by his side. Originally an artist who graduated from the Saigon Music and Drama School (now the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music), he was a handsome actor who specialized in reformed opera, having performed on the stage of the Anh Chieu Duong troupe of People's Artist Nam Chau. Later, he was invited by director Le Dan to play the main role in the film "Loan Mat Nhung".
He rose to fame and became associated with the Kim Cuong drama troupe.
