The US has not said who is suspected of carrying out the attacks on al-Asad air base and al-Harir air base in Iraq.

But Washington is raising its guard about the activities of Iran-backed groups as regional tensions rise due to the fallout from the Israel-Hamas war.
The first attack early on October 18 involved two drones targeting the al-Asad base, two US officials said. One of the drones was intercepted but exploded, causing minor injuries and damaging some equipment. One official said some US troops were being evaluated for possible traumatic brain injuries.
According to sources, the second drone attack targeted al-Harir airbase, which houses US forces in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil.
The armed drone in the second incident crashed in a desert area near the village of Batas in Harir district at 12:18 p.m., the security agency of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region said, without giving further details.
A little-known armed group called Tashkil al-Waritheen claimed responsibility for the attack in al-Harir.
Last week, Iranian-aligned Iraqi militias threatened to attack US interests with missiles and drones if Washington intervened to support Israel against Hamas in Gaza.
