Meta - Facebook's parent company - announced that it will remove messages referring to Jews as "Zionists" and being hateful.

Meta removes anti-Semitic hate messages

“We determined that the current policy guidance does not adequately address how people are using the term ‘Zionist’ online and offline,” Meta said, according to CNN.

The latest tweak expands Meta's approach, deeming a message hateful when it is accompanied by anti-Semitic imagery or explicitly mentions Jews.

Meta said it met with more than 145 historians, civil rights groups, legal and human rights experts, and free speech advocates from around the world to reach the decision.

Earlier this month, Meta also said it was adjusting its rules on hateful messages, considering whether the use of the Arabic word “shaheed,” often translated as “martyr,” constitutes hate speech.
