According to Neowin , in preparation for this milestone, the game's official website has also launched, bringing a gameplay trailer for the game. The website says the game will launch with four civilizations (French, Roman, Chinese, and Byzantine). Players will also be able to play as historical figures such as Barbarossa, the Queen of Sheba, and more.

A quick synopsis for the game from Microsoft states that Age of Empires Mobile will offer an immersive experience in a compelling war strategy game with rich real-time controls, beautiful visuals, and the ability to take on the role of historical heroes on massive battlefields. "Take control of your empire, rally allies from around the world , and reclaim your former glory," the synopsis states.

Microsoft also released a second trailer that delves a little deeper into the game's development. Many of the developers at Timi call themselves "huge fans of the Age of Empires series." A notable element of the mobile version of the game includes large-scale battles where hundreds of online gamers will play together.

Age of Empires Mobile also brings PvP combat and an emphasis on pre-battle features that are not typically found in the PC or Xbox versions of AoE. Single-player fans can also play the game on their own, build their empire, and explore dungeons on their own. With all that on offer, Microsoft hopes the Mobile version of Age of Empires will be a success.
