The 2025-2026 school year is the first year that localities enroll 10th grade students according to the 2018 General Education Program and new regulations.

Ha Giang is the only locality that chooses History - Geography. Binh Thuan province also chooses this combination test but only applies to students taking the entrance exam to the provincial boarding high school for ethnic minorities, the remaining schools take the English test.
Among 63 provinces and cities, 3 localities choose the admission method, of which only Ca Mau applies admission to grade 10 for all schools in the area; Vinh Long and Gia Lai apply admission for mass schools, while specialized schools apply entrance exams.
In Hanoi, the city has chosen Foreign Language as the third subject. Students can choose from the following foreign languages: English, German, French, Japanese, and Korean.
To take part in the entrance exam for grade 10 of Hanoi public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year, students will take exams in the subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language. Of which, Math and Literature will be in the form of an essay, with a time limit of 120 minutes; Foreign Language will be in the form of an objective multiple choice test, with a time limit of 60 minutes. The entrance exam for grade 10 in Hanoi will take place on June 7 and 8.
