Nam Dinh beat Hanoi FC for the first time at Hang Day Stadium

VnExpressVnExpress31/03/2024

Hanoi Nam Dinh recreated the scenario from the first leg to beat Hanoi FC 2-1 in round 14 of V-League 2023-2024, defeating this opponent for the first time at Hang Day Stadium.

At this stadium in the past, Nam Dinh lost eight and drew once when facing Hanoi FC. The only draw with a score of 3-3 occurred in the second leg of V-League 2018.

The result against Hanoi today helped Nam Dinh have their 10th victory in the 2023-2024 V-League to consolidate their top position with 32 points, widening the gap with second-placed Binh Duong – who surprisingly lost 0-2 to Ha Tinh today – to six points. Nam Dinh is also seven and 13 points ahead of defending champions Cong An Ha Noi and Ha Noi FC, respectively.

Entering the match on the evening of March 31, Nam Dinh played high pressing from the start and found a goal in the 15th minute. Tran Van Cong took the ball from Denilson Pereira and passed it to Hendrio to rotate into the right penalty area. Rafaelson adjusted and then fired a powerful shot into the left corner to open the score.

In the second half, coach Daiki Iwamasa sent Pham Tuan Hai onto the field to refresh the attack and it only took him three minutes to make his mark, with a long shot from about 20 meters that hit the post. Nguyen Manh then excellently blocked Van Quyet's rebound but was helpless with the second header, leaving the match in balance.

The two teams continued to exchange blows after that, but the final shots either missed the goal or hit the goalkeeper's chosen position. The turning point continued in the 76th minute when Joel Tagueu kicked Tran Ngoc Son's heel while marking him. Initially, referee Nguyen Manh Hai issued a yellow card but changed it to a red card after reviewing the video.

Despite having one more player, Nam Dinh could not put pressure on Hanoi. But they still knew how to finish the match. In the third minute of injury time, Tuan Anh shot from a distance and hit the left post, missing the chance to make his mark in his debut match for his new team. Two minutes later, Hanoi FC responded with Tuan Hai's shot going over the bar in a one-on-one situation with Nguyen Manh. And just one minute later, Rafaelson dribbled down the right wing and crossed for Lucas Alves to connect in the penalty area right in front of the goal, sealing the score at 2-1 for Nam Dinh.

The scenario in the first leg was repeated when Van Vi scored in the second half's injury time to help Nam Dinh defeat Hanoi FC 3-2, in the match of round 11 of the Night Wolf V-League 2023-2024 national championship.
