Enhancing Gia Lai agricultural products with technology and digital transformation

The typical agricultural products of ethnic minorities in Gia Lai are being given a new look, gradually affirming their value in the market thanks to the support of technology and digital transformation. Instead of depending on traders and traditional farming methods, many people have boldly applied e-commerce platforms and social networks to promote and consume their products.

From traditional craft villages to "online markets"

Ms. Nay H'To (Ia Sao commune) is a typical example of applying technology to develop business. With the profession of making rice wine of the Jrai people since childhood, she has built the brand "Rửu Cần Jrai Ayun Pa" and achieved the 3-star OCOP product certification. Taking advantage of social networks to promote the product, Ms. H'To has increased the consumption output to 200-300 jars of wine per month, 2-3 times higher than before.

She shared: "I regularly post photos and livestream on Facebook so that customers can clearly see the traditional wine making process. Thanks to the QR code for traceability and food safety certification, many customers in Hanoi , Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City have confidently ordered through the fanpage."

Similarly, Ms. Kpa Nguyen Thu Hong in Pleiku ward also successfully started an online business. Starting with a simple post about the traditional Jrai meal on Facebook, she received many online orders and then opened a restaurant called "Com Tay Nguyen". Thanks to the spread of social networks, she sells from 50 to 100 servings of local-flavored rice every day and is highly appreciated by many customers.

Digital transformation is not only a technical solution, but also helps people in remote areas shorten the development gap, change their thinking about production and business, and access public services more conveniently. To bring technology closer to ethnic minorities, Gia Lai province has built a "community digital transformation" team. This force includes union officials, farmers' association members, women's association members, and police officers, who are trained in digital skills to support people in using technology in their daily lives.

Improve the quality of OCOP products and aim for sustainable development

The "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program in Gia Lai also makes an important contribution to the development of the rural economy , helping to unleash the potential of local products and creating opportunities to build distinctive agricultural product brands in the market.

To ensure the quality of OCOP products, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province coordinated with relevant departments to conduct on-site inspections at production facilities. The goal is to assess the limitations in production, processing, packaging, labeling and traceability, and then guide the facilities to overcome them. In addition, the Department also requested localities to strengthen supervision, inspection and revocation of OCOP certificates for violating products.

The "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program in Gia Lai makes an important contribution to the development of the rural economy.

To keep up with the development trend, Gia Lai is applying technology to the post-inspection of OCOP products. Although the specialized database system is in the process of completion, the Department has proactively stored product information on the Google Drive digital platform for convenient searching and updating. It is expected that the Department will build a centralized database system, connecting between levels, helping to manage effectively and make information transparent. At the same time, OCOP production facilities are also encouraged to apply electronic traceability, a mandatory requirement for products aiming for 4 and 5 star standards.

Synchronous support policies, from trade promotion, brand building, to management skills training and technological innovation, are helping producers improve their capacity. The goal is not only to help products achieve OCOP certification but also to enhance internal strength so that producers can maintain and develop sustainably.

With the drastic participation of the agricultural sector and the initiative of the locality, the OCOP program in Gia Lai promises to continue to reap many successes, improving the quality and reputation of products in both domestic and foreign markets.
