“The problem is not only about the Nord Stream 1 explosion. Nord Stream 2 was damaged, but one pipeline is safe and gas can be supplied to Europe through it, but Germany is not open,” TASS news agency quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as saying.

According to the Russian leader, there is another gas pipeline through Poland, the Yamal-Europe pipeline, which also has a large capacity, but Warsaw has closed this route.

Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines - transport natural gas from Russia to European markets via Germany.

In September 2022, the Swedish Maritime Authority warned of two leaks on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, which runs through the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark.

The warning came shortly after another leak was discovered on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which runs through Denmark's exclusive economic zone.

All three pipelines were offline but were pumping gas. Denmark and Sweden said underwater explosions with the force of hundreds of kilograms of explosives could have caused the leaks in the two pipelines.

Immediately after the incident, Sweden, Denmark and Germany opened separate investigations and each country collected its own information, while Russia also launched an investigation into suspected sabotage.

The Swedish prosecutor's office said that within the framework of this legal cooperation, Stockholm had handed over documents that could be used as evidence for Berlin's investigation.

On February 7, the Nordic country's National Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the country's authorities would close the investigation into the explosion and transfer the collected evidence to German authorities.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow would not keep secrets regarding the investigation into the incident and was looking for a reliable answer to what happened to the pipelines.
