Russia has sent warships to join joint patrols with Iran in the Caspian Sea, while sending Su-35 fighter jets to patrol neutral waters in the Black Sea.

The Russian and Iranian naval warships conducted a joint patrol in the Caspian Sea for three days, TASS news agency reported, adding that the ships have completed their mission and are returning to their bases.
Russia sent small artillery and missile boats of Project 21630 (Buyan class), Volgodonsk and Astrakhan, while Iran assigned the task to the patrol boat Shahid Nazeri, fast attack craft Joshan and frigate Deylaman.
During joint patrols of the central and northern areas of the Caspian Sea, Russian and Iranian sailors addressed challenges related to protecting shipping routes, controlling maritime traffic and counter-piracy measures.
During the three-day mission, they conducted joint maneuvers, as well as practiced defending and protecting naval task forces during a sea voyage. Russian and Iranian naval officials took turns commanding the operations.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Su-35S air superiority fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a patrol mission over the neutral waters of the Black Sea to prevent foreign aircraft from violating the country's sovereign airspace.
The Su-35S (NATO classification: Flanker-E+) is a 4++ generation super-maneuverable multirole fighter designed with fifth-generation technology.
