The agreement covers all important areas of cooperation between Russia and Iran, including: defense and security, energy, finance and trade, transportation, agriculture , industry, science and technology, culture and education.

President Putin commented: "This treaty is a real breakthrough, creating conditions for stable and sustainable development of Russia, Iran and the entire region."

Meanwhile, President Pezeshkian stressed: "Iran and Russia are entering a new chapter in their relationship, especially in the field of trade."

The treaty was signed in a context where both Russia and Iran are under heavy sanctions from the West.

Russia has considered Iran an important partner since the Ukraine war in 2022. In addition to Iran, Russia has also actively strengthened relations with China and North Korea to cope with pressure from the West.

According to TASS news agency, the treaty will be valid for 20 years, affirming the long-term commitment of both sides. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: "This treaty is constructive, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of Russia, Iran and partners around the world ."
