On November 25, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference on "Current status of supply of seeds, feed, and materials for marine aquaculture; traceability of product origin and solutions for sustainable development of marine aquaculture in Vietnam" in Khanh Hoa .

According to the report of the Department of Fisheries (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in 2022, the marine farming area of our country will reach more than 256,000 hectares, with an output of nearly 750,000 tons; in 2023, the output could reach nearly 800,000 tons.

However, the development of the marine aquaculture industry still faces many difficulties and challenges, especially the development of industrial marine aquaculture such as: Poor planning and implementation of marine aquaculture planning, spontaneous farming activities, and violations of planning are still common, leading to environmental pollution, difficult product consumption, and difficulty in synchronous development. Technology for seed production, health and environmental management in farming areas, and disease prevention and treatment in farming objects are still limited. Infrastructure serving industrial marine aquaculture, the development of supporting industries (cage systems; environmental and disease monitoring and surveillance equipment; harvesting and transportation technology; processing technology and market development...) have not developed synchronously. Resources (finance and human resources) are still limited. Research and forecasting of the market for marine aquaculture products are still weak...

At the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that in recent times, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have issued many policies and programs to promote the development of marine aquaculture. However, in the new situation, the development of marine aquaculture in Vietnam will still face many difficulties and challenges, especially the development of industrial marine aquaculture.
