Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow is maintaining communication channels with Israel and is sending signals about the need to find a peaceful solution in the Gaza Strip, warning Israel against pursuing a "scorched earth strategy" in the Gaza Strip.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said his country was maintaining contact with Israel and was sending signals about the need to find a peaceful solution in the Gaza Strip, while warning against pursuing a "scorched earth strategy".
In an interview with Belarusian news agency Belta on October 28, Foreign Minister Lavrov emphasized: "We are sending a signal to the Israelis, we maintain full contact with them.
Our ambassador is in constant contact with Tel Aviv, we are sending signals about the need to find a peaceful solution and not to complete the previously announced scorched earth strategy in the Gaza Strip."
Russia's top diplomat said it would be difficult to eliminate the Palestinian resistance force Hamas without killing a large number of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Lavrov also stressed the importance of implementing humanitarian programs in Gaza to rescue people in need of necessities such as electricity, water and food.
Foreign Minister Lavrov also said Moscow was interested in ensuring that the Central Asian region was not used as a "springboard" for threats to Russian and Chinese interests, as had happened with Ukraine.
