At the workshop, many presentations stated that in recent years, science and technology activities in the southern provinces have made certain practical contributions. However, research, transfer and application of science and technology also face difficulties and limitations such as: Local human resources with low capacity for research, development and application; there are no highly innovative topics and projects; commercialization of research results is still difficult; models of application of scientific and technological advances have not kept up with the transformation of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution that is taking place strongly; the southern provinces do not have core units in research and technology transfer activities.

In order to contribute to removing difficulties and limitations, the southern science and technology sector wishes to strengthen cooperation and connection with centers, research institutes and universities in the region to enhance scientific and technological potential (especially high-quality human resources); link, share and exchange experiences with other localities to create close connections, maximize the exploitation of available resources and conditions to help localities develop the high-tech agricultural sector.
According to Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Tay Ninh province Nguyen Thi Kim Quyen, Tay Ninh is a province with strengths in agricultural development, with a large potential for agricultural production, especially in developing crops and livestock with high economic value. In recent times, the Department has always focused on researching, implementing and applying topics and projects to help localities receive, master and develop techniques and technologies to solve problems related to: improving productivity and quality of the province's key crops such as rice, sugarcane, cassava; high-yield and high-quality crop and livestock varieties; applying biotechnology in production and using biological products to serve safe agricultural production. For example, projects on sugarcane have been effectively implemented through the transfer of new sugarcane varieties with outstanding productivity, intensive sugarcane cultivation techniques, parasitic bee breeding to prevent pink mealybug pests, etc.
At the workshop, delegates listened to reports from representatives of science and technology management units on specific solutions common to the whole industry, as well as individual, creative solutions suitable to local characteristics. In addition, delegates also proposed many specific, practical solutions to bring science and technology tasks "into life", serving the socio-economic development of the Southern region.
Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Director of the Southern Office Nguyen Manh Cuong said: The presentations and opinions exchanged frankly acknowledged the "barriers" and difficulties in socio-economic development in the region, requiring the active participation of science and technology in research and forecasting and research to propose solutions to overcome them. The workshop will collect many opinions from experts, scientists, managers, businesses and local leaders to contribute solutions on mechanisms and policies so that the tasks of science and technology serving the sustainable socio-economic development of each locality in particular and the Southern region in general will become more and more effective.
