  • For the first time, Ca Mau has 2 salt products achieving 5-star OCOP at the national level.

Kieu Hanh dried fish production facility (Vinh Loi commune) currently has 5 3-star OCOP products including: dried snakehead fish, dried goby fish, dried snakehead fish, dried shrimp and tamarind fish sauce. The facility has effectively used locally available raw materials to develop products, invested in improving packaging and design, and applied a closed production process, ensuring food hygiene and safety, with the goal of upgrading the product to 4-star OCOP in the near future.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Tu, representative of the facility, shared: “Since the facility’s products were recognized as meeting OCOP standards, the number of customers has increased significantly. Consumers increasingly trust and prefer products with clear origins and guaranteed quality. Currently, our products are present in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and the Western provinces, helping to increase income and create stable jobs for local workers.”

Ngoc Minh Bird's Nest Facility (Vinh Hau Commune) also affirms the quality of its processed bird's nest products that meet 4-star OCOP standards. After nearly 10 years of operation, the facility has continuously innovated its production process, invested in modern machinery and strictly adhered to food hygiene and safety standards. In addition, the facility also actively participates in trade promotion activities, fairs and supply-demand connections to expand the consumption market in and outside the province.

Ms. Pham Thi My, the owner of the facility, expressed: “Participating in the OCOP Program not only helps the facility improve product quality but also provides an opportunity to promote and introduce products to a wide range of consumers. Through fairs and connection programs, we can reach many potential customers, thereby gradually building our own bird’s nest brand.”

Over the past time, the OCOP Program has not only contributed to economic development but also been an effective channel to promote the image of Ca Mau land and people. Each OCOP product is a cultural story, a characteristic of the land, contributing to spreading indigenous values to friends at home and abroad.

Up to now, the whole province has 352 products meeting OCOP standards of 173 entities. Of which, there are 273 3-star OCOP products, 77 4-star OCOP products and 2 products of Bac Lieu refined salt and grain salt meeting 5-star OCOP standards. This is a clear demonstration of the efforts of individuals, groups and authorities in improving the quality of local agricultural products.

With the support of the government and the initiative of the people, the OCOP Program will continue to be an important driving force for Ca Mau to improve product quality, expand consumption markets, thereby contributing to building a sustainable new countryside, rich in identity and comprehensive development.
