On August 5, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, said that the department had sent a report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the proposal to build a boarding school for primary and secondary schools in the border communes inland.

According to Mr. Thai, after the merger, Quang Ngai province has a geographical location stretching from the South Central Coast to the Northern Central Highlands, becoming an administrative unit with a large area, diverse terrain and bordering Laos and Cambodia.
Quang Ngai province has 96 commune-level administrative units, including 9 border communes located in the western region. These communes have rugged geographical features, difficult transportation, sparse population distribution and the majority are ethnic minorities.
Faced with the above situation, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province has proposed building a primary and secondary boarding school for 9 border communes, including: Mo Rai commune, Ro Koi commune, Bo Y commune, Duc Nong commune, Sa Loong commune, Dak Long commune, Dak Plo commune, Ia Dal commune, Ia Toi commune.
Accordingly, some schools may start construction in 2025 and are expected to be completed on August 30, 2026, including: Duc Nong Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School, with a total investment of more than VND 200 billion; Mo Rai Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School, with a total investment of more than VND 175 billion. Some remaining schools are expected to be put into operation in August 2027.
The Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province also requested the Ministry of Education and Training to reconsider the criteria, especially regarding land area because according to the area proposed by the Ministry of Education and Training, it is difficult to build schools in border communes; at the same time, coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to direct and guide the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province and border communes to urgently arrange land funds to build schools.
