Quang Tri: Illuminating inter-regional tourism potential from the "Green Heritage Flow"

After the merger and regional association, Quang Binh cooperated with Quang Tri to create a promising green heritage flow. Not only expanding types such as resort, rural and MICE tourism, this new land also left its mark with pioneering travel agencies, leading a wave of international tourists to explore deeper into local values.

After officially promoting regional development linkages between the old Quang Binh and Quang Tri, the North Central tourism industry is witnessing a clear transformation, both in terms of product scale and sustainable development thinking. The two old provinces not only cooperate to exploit the advantages of natural and cultural heritage, but also implement outstanding promotional campaigns such as "Quang Tri - Green Heritage Land", opening a new growth phase: specialized, profound and leaving a clear mark in economic - tourism linkages.

Previously, tourists often considered Quang Binh and Quang Tri as two separate destinations. But now, thanks to the "Heritage Road" route running along the western branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, a cross-regional tourism journey is gradually taking shape. Tourists can depart from Phong Nha Cave, Chay River - Dark Cave, cross the Truong Son forest to reach Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong Bridge, Khe Sanh... That journey not only connects geographically but also combines nature, history and culture into a tour of Quang Binh (old) - Quang Tri (new) rich in experiences.

Merger creates a heritage area rich in experiences

In the strategy of promoting the destination image, the campaign “Quang Tri - Green Heritage Land” has repositioned this land from a symbol of war to a sustainable tourist destination. Along with that is the rapid development of strengths such as rural tourism, resort tourism and MICE.

In the midland areas such as Huong Hoa, Dakrong, or the buffer zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, rural experience tours have begun to take shape. Tourists can visit organic vegetable farms, replanted coffee gardens, clean agricultural products and learn about sustainable farming. This is a product that is very popular with tourists from Europe, Japan and Korea - markets that are trending towards eco-tourism and responsible rural tourism.

Coastal areas such as Cua Viet, Cua Tung (Quang Tri) or Nhat Le, Bao Ninh (old Quang Binh) are being planned to become resort tourism centers combined with health care. Activities such as yoga on the beach, hot mineral spring bathing, detox at eco-homestays have been and are being formed.

Creating experiences from community tourism model

At the same time, MICE tourism (conferences, seminars, exhibitions and events) is being promoted by both provinces. With 4-5 star hotel and conference center infrastructure being upgraded in Dong Hoi and Dong Ha, this area is ready to welcome international business delegations and organizations to work and experience. Combining work with resort & island at places such as Bang Onsen, Con Co island creates unique MICE products, rich in Central identity.

One of the pioneering enterprises in seizing the opportunity from regional linkage is Sovaba Travel - a travel company based in Dong Hoi, specializing in exploiting the international tourist market (inbound). Sensitive to the trend, Sovaba has quickly integrated Quang Tri tourist destinations into the Quang Binh (old) and Quang Tri (new) tour product chain, expanding the Phong Nha - Vung Chua - Vinh Moc - Khe Sanh itinerary. The tours are flexibly designed, combining beach resorts, exploring craft villages, experiencing the countryside and local cuisine.

Not only connecting destinations, Sovaba also focuses on creating depth of experience. Visitors can participate in making dried sweet potatoes at Linh Hue traditional facility, grow organic vegetables in Bo Trach or stay at a community homestay in Chenh Venh village. This is not only a difference in the way products are made, but also a specific contribution to sustainable livelihood development and spreading the spirit of responsible tourism.

Bringing international tourists to explore the heritage of two regions through tours

The transformation from a “land of war” to a “land of healing” not only gives Quang Tri a new look, but also expands the development space for Quang Binh, beyond the single-line designation of the “kingdom of caves”. The creation of an inter-regional tourism corridor with distinct products, diverse services and a cohesive mindset is becoming a strategic lever, helping this region welcome the wave of high-quality international tourists in the coming period.

Connecting the Quang Tri region is not only a planning step, but has become a practical driving force to promote innovative tourism. With unique products and pioneering business models such as Sovaba Travel , this land is gradually forming a vibrant, sustainable heritage area where nature, culture and community work together for the future of Vietnam tourism.
