Saudi Pro League chief Carlo Nohra said that revenue from television rights for Saudi Arabia's biggest league has increased 6.5 times since Ronaldo joined Al Nassr.

Besides the money from selling television rights, the appearance of the Portuguese superstar also attracts many famous players from Europe to the Saudi League, such as Karim Benzema, Neymar, N'Golo Kante or Sadio Mane.

"Our main focus in the future will be nothing other than increasing the brand value of the tournament and the teams," Carlo Nohra revealed to Bloomberg.

Notably, in the coming time, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation will also negotiate with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to send strong teams to participate in the Champions League.

"The Saudi League wants to compete with the top European leagues in the future and what they are doing this year is just the beginning. We are trying to do things differently, ready to change to develop," Nohra added.

Currently, top European tournaments such as the Premier League, Serie A or Ligue 1 are being broadcast in over 200 countries and territories.

Meanwhile, the Saudi League, although broadcast in 140 countries, still needs to improve quality to increase the value of copyright contracts.

According to SportBusiness, the Saudi League generated $710,000 in revenue from 28 TV rights sales for the 2022-2023 season and could earn $5.3 million this season.

But that number cannot be compared to the top European leagues in terms of television revenue, when each year they can earn hundreds, even billions of dollars.
