In a series of events recently held in Germany, including the FIDO Munich conference and the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) roundtable on the automotive industry, VinCSS shared its initiative to significantly increase the security of smart vehicles in front of hundreds of global technology leaders. Accordingly, VinCSS's initiative utilizes the FIDO Device Onboarding (FDO) protocol developed by the FIDO Alliance. FDO makes the process of integrating IoT devices into smart cars simpler and more secure, ensuring that only authenticated entities can interact with devices and vehicles. By establishing a secure environment, the FDO protocol protects smart vehicle software and data from tampering attacks or unauthorized changes.
As a result, hackers cannot decrypt or install malware, enhancing security for the entire supply chain throughout the life cycle of production, distribution, and use of vehicles.
In fact, a smart car today can be integrated with countless software, many times more than Facebook, Microsoft Office, and even Boeing 787. It is this complex software that opens the door for hackers to attack, directly threatening the operation, safety, and privacy of the driver. By 2025, the world is expected to have more than 470 million smart vehicles. This number leads to a global problem of cybersecurity. Since 2016, car cybersecurity incidents have increased by 605%. This year, attacks on smart cars are expected to cause a total of 505 billion USD in damage.

Many products have integrated FDO

Previously, VinCSS also introduced the world's first FDO network deployment solution in Taipei, Taiwan, which shortens the network device deployment process by up to 10 times, making it more convenient and secure. In 2023, the Vietnamese start-up successfully demonstrated the FDO smart parking management solution at the FIDO Asia- Pacific Summit. In 2022, VinCSS introduced the world's first FDO-integrated smart cameras in Tokyo, Japan, becoming the first company to successfully commercialize FDO.
