Developer Rockstar Games took over the internet last week when it revealed the first official trailer for GTA 6. The game, which has been in development for over a decade, broke YouTube viewership records.
GTA 6 Trailer Breaks YouTube Viewership Record
After the trailer was released, Rockstar Games also confirmed that GTA 6 will be released on Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5. Although this is no surprise to the gaming community, many of them are still wondering when GTA 6 will be available on PC?
Rockstar Games typically releases its games on consoles first, then adds them to PC after the initial launch. Game developer Mike York, who worked on GTA 5, has explained why Rockstar Games and other game developers focus on the console version before moving on to the PC port after the game's initial launch.
On his YouTube channel called "York Reacts," he revealed that: Sometimes, the PlayStation version of a game is the first thing that gets focused on, before moving to Xbox and then, months or years later, to PC.
GTA 6 has been awaited by gamers for too long
“One of the main reasons why the PC version took so long to come out after the game launched was because the developers wanted to make it as good as possible. They had to iron out all the little bugs they hadn't worked out yet,” he wrote.
York then added: “In the past, PlayStation was the best seller… So what developers would do is focus all their energy on making sure the PlayStation port and PlayStation game did really well. For example, when I was working on GTA 5, we focused on PS3 and Xbox at the time, but mostly focused on PS3.”
Time will tell when Rockstar Games plans to release GTA 6 on PC, but given their history of doing so, it's likely to be sooner than GTA 5.
