Mastering regulations on slaughter control and related policies will help owners of centralized slaughterhouses in Ha Tinh improve operational efficiency and qualify for State support policies.

On the afternoon of December 20, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Ha Tinh organized a training conference on slaughter control in the area.

More than 80 delegates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Center for Science and Technology Application and Animal and Plant Protection of districts, towns, cities and slaughterhouse owners attended.

Mr. Tran Hung - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Ha Tinh: Basically, the province's centralized slaughterhouses operate relatively effectively, meeting the slaughtering needs of practitioners in the area, contributing to ensuring food hygiene and safety, limiting epidemics and protecting the environment.

Ha Tinh currently has 34 concentrated slaughterhouses in operation with a scale that ensures the slaughter of 30 to 70 pigs per slaughter shift. Some facilities have additional areas for slaughtering cattle, with a scale of 5 to 15 cattle per slaughter shift.

According to records, most slaughterhouses are located far from residential areas and public works; the average area is about 3,000 m2/facility. Basic construction items are invested in and constructed according to the instructions of the professional sector. The area serving slaughterhouse activities according to the planning of localities is from 5 to 7 communes/facility.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy Head of Veterinary Management Department (Ha Tinh Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department) explained the contents.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy Head of the Veterinary Management Department (Ha Tinh Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department) thoroughly grasped important contents such as: general regulations on animal slaughter, regulations on slaughter control, and directive documents on slaughter.

At the same time, analyze policies related to slaughter control, implementation steps to benefit from support policies on hanging slaughter systems, water treatment systems used in slaughter, remuneration support for people working in slaughter control...

On this occasion, delegates discussed the current situation and performance of centralized slaughterhouses in the area; shared experiences in localities that have performed well; and frankly reflected on some shortcomings and difficulties in the operation process.

On that basis, delegates recommended and proposed solutions to improve the efficiency of slaughtering activities such as: supporting funding to upgrade and repair centralized slaughterhouses, increasing prices for centralized livestock slaughtering services, increasing remuneration support for slaughterhouse workers...
