Quang Nam A fishing boat sank about 18 nautical miles off the coast of Nui Thanh district, three fishermen were rescued by a neighboring ship.

On the afternoon of May 20, Captain Ho Thanh Tam, 56 years old, residing in Tam Quang commune, Nui Thanh district, reported to Ky Ha Border Guard Station. Mr. Tam's boat set sail on May 15 with three fishermen. On the morning of May 20, the boat anchored to rest in the middle of the sea.

"At around 8am, everyone was sleeping when suddenly a cargo ship heading north crashed in front of the anchor. The ship broke apart and water flooded in. We used an Icom to contact Mr. Ho Van Luong's fishing boat three nautical miles away for help," said Mr. Tam.

Three fishermen then jumped into the sea when only the bow of the ship was floating. Mr. Tam said that despite the fishermen's loud cries, the cargo ship did not stop. All the seafood caught, worth about 60 million VND, and the ship worth 500 million VND remained at sea.
