(Dan Tri) - If she wins the 2025 Miami Open, female tennis player Mirra Andreeva will make history by winning two WTA Masters 1000 tournaments in the US at the age of 17.
Mirra Andreeva won her second consecutive WTA Masters 1000 title, after defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 on March 16 in the 2025 Indian Wells final.
She won her 12th consecutive match since winning the previous WTA Masters 1000 event, the Dubai Open in the UAE, becoming the youngest player to do so since the WTA Masters 1000 system was launched in 2009.

Andreeva is also the youngest person in 40 years to defeat both world number one and number two to win a WTA Tour event. Before beating Sabalenka in the final, she defeated world number two Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals.
Over the past 2 years, the Russian tennis player has made strong progress, shining at Grand Slam tournaments and reaching world number 6 at the age of 17. Mirra Andreeva has the opportunity to continue making history when participating in the Miami Open 2025.
Seeded 11th, the Russian will face either Veronika Kudermetova or Wang Xiyu in the second round on March 21. If she advances, she could face Amanda Anisimova in the third round, Emma Navarro (No. 8) in the fourth round, Jessica Pegula (No. 4) in the quarterfinals, before waiting for a rematch with Swiatek (semi-final) and Sabalenka (final).
In WTA history, four female players have won both Indian Wells and Miami Open in the same year: Steffi Graf (1994, 1996), Kim Clijsters (2005), Victoria Azarenka (2016) and Iga Swiatek (2022).
If Mirra Andreeva wins the 2025 Miami Open, she will become the fifth person on this legendary list and the youngest in history. The current record belongs to Swiatek, who was just 20 years old in 2022.
