Following Spicks and Specks (1966), Petersen went on to contribute to four of the group's Polydor/Atco albums, including Bee Gees' 1st (1967), which featured hits such as New York Mining Disaster 1941 , To Love Somebody and Holiday, making the Bee Gees an international phenomenon.

“I'm not the most technically skilled drummer, but I think sometimes simpler is better,” Petersen humbly shared in an interview with Jason Barnard.

The Bee Gees have sold over 120 million records worldwide , making them one of the world's best-selling music artists/groups of all time.

Before Colin Petersen, the Bee Gees had lost three members. Maurice Gibb died in 2003, Robin Gibb died in 2012 at the age of 62, and Dennis Bryon - the band's former drummer from 1974 to 1980, died on November 14, just four days before Colin.
