Investment in school facilities is being carried out in the direction of optimization, effectively integrating national target programs, target programs of the education sector and mobilizing social resources.
Speed up progress
Tan Bang Secondary and High School (Bien Bach, Ca Mau ) has been approved by the province to invest in 10 new classrooms; repair 20 classrooms; add more practice rooms and laboratory equipment; upgrade sidewalks, and related items... aiming to reach national standards level 1.
The total investment cost is about 20 billion VND from socialized sources. The project started construction at the end of April 2025 and has now completed more than half of the work. The contractor committed to speeding up the progress and completing the project before August 20 so that the school can prepare for the new school year 2025 - 2026.
Similarly, Phu Hung Secondary School (Luong The Tran, Ca Mau) was completely rebuilt with a 3-storey building, including classrooms, functional rooms, administrative area, fences, garage, toilets, etc. with a budget of about 25 billion VND. Currently, about 70% of the work has been completed.
“Having a new, spacious, clean and fully equipped school is a long-standing desire of the school community. Therefore, during the summer months, the school leaders spend time regularly visiting the construction site, supervising the construction, encouraging the contractor to ensure progress and quality so that the project can be completed and put into use soon, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning at the school,” said Mr. Do Hoang Ho Liep Hai - Principal of Phu Hung Secondary School.
On the eve of the new school year 2025 - 2026, Hanoi announced the decision to establish two new schools, Do Muoi High School (Yen So Ward) and Phuc Thinh High School (Phuc Thinh Commune), to recruit nearly 1,000 additional students for grade 10. This is good news for many families of students.
Do Muoi High School was built in Hoang Mai District (old), which is a hot spot for public school shortages. The school has a total investment of 332 billion VND, with a scale of five floors above ground, one basement, including 45 classrooms, a headmaster's office, a multi-purpose building and functional rooms.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - a parent of a student in Vinh Hung ward, said: "Hearing the news that Do Muoi High School will be put into operation in the next school year, my family was very excited and carefully researched the information. Looking at the new, spacious and modern school that is completing the final stages before the new school year, I feel relieved about the school for my child."
Phuc Thinh High School, located in the old Dong Anh district, is also a hot spot for enrollment. The school was built on a plot of land with an area of 25,233m2, with a total investment of more than 217 billion VND, meeting the criteria of a national standard school. The school has a scale of 45 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of 1,800 students.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam - Poland High School project (Hoang Liet ward) is urgently completing construction, ready to welcome teachers and students back to study after a temporary period of schooling to repair the school. With the establishment of two new high schools and the renovation and expansion of old schools, the enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025 - 2026 school year of Hanoi city has increased by 3% compared to the previous school year, to about 64%. Thus, there will be about 5,000 more students with places to study in public schools.

Renovating commune headquarters into new school
Taking over the renovation project of Thuan My Secondary School (Bat Bat, Hanoi) from the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ba Vi district (old), the leaders of Bat Bat commune continue to speed up the completion of the project to put it into use from the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year. The Thuan My Secondary School project is invested with a total cost of 26 billion VND, including modern and synchronous items such as: 3-storey school building, headmaster's house, functional rooms, playground, practice ground, electricity and water system, trees, fence and school gate... All are designed according to national standard school standards, aiming to improve the quality of comprehensive education.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Sin Suoi Ho Primary Boarding School (Sin Suoi Ho Commune, Lai Chau) is expected to have 654 students. According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thieu - Principal, said: "This year, the school received the old Sin Suoi Ho Commune People's Committee headquarters, so the concern about facilities has been resolved. We will mobilize all students from the villages to the center to study. Therefore, the commune headquarters will be arranged with 7 classrooms and accommodation for about 150 boarding students".
Nam Hang Commune was established after merging Nam Manh Commune, Nam Nhun Town and Nam Hang Commune. Mr. Quach Tat Huong - Chairman of Nam Hang Commune People's Committee, said: "There are 2 schools in the area that have received the headquarters of the communes after the merger. Nam Hang Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities received the headquarters of the old Nam Hang Commune and Nam Manh Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities received the headquarters of Nam Manh Commune. The schools receiving the headquarters not only avoids waste but also adds necessary facilities to serve teaching and learning activities".
Previously, the boarding area was combined with Nam Hang Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities. Therefore, the management and arrangement of accommodation for students encountered many difficulties.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Principal of Nam Hang Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: “In the coming school year, the school will have 510 students, of which 270 are semi-boarders. After receiving the commune headquarters, the school will use it as a semi-boarding area for students. This is a favorable condition for the school to continue improving the quality of education and taking care of semi-boarding students. On August 1, the school's teachers will return home after the summer break. After that, we will gather teachers and mobilize parents to clean, repair and arrange suitable semi-boarding areas.”

Facility review
For schools and localities affected by floods, the work of overcoming difficulties and reviewing facilities is being urgently implemented. At the same time, statistics on damage are being reported to the Education sector and local authorities for solutions, ensuring stable teaching and learning when entering the new school year.
In the recent flood, Nghe An Education sector suffered the most damage with more than 40 schools and school locations affected. The flood receded, leaving behind a mess of difficulties and losses right before the new school year.
In the past few days, teachers from Nguyen Hue Kindergarten, Hung Tay, Hung Thinh, Hung My (formerly Hung Nguyen district) traveled hundreds of kilometers to support Chi Khe Kindergarten (Con Cuong commune). After giving small gifts, the kindergarten teachers also stayed to help the school clean the classrooms, children's toys, and classify the items that could still be reused after washing them.
Meanwhile, high schools such as Nghi Loc 3, Nghi Loc 2, Nguyen Duy Trinh... have called on teachers to go and contribute human and financial resources to help schools and families of colleagues in Tuong Duong and Tam Quang communes affected by floods.
After the call for support from the whole sector to overcome the consequences of the flood, the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An visited some schools that were severely damaged in Con Cuong commune. In case the locality is too difficult to balance the funding source for implementation, the Department will synthesize and coordinate with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and decide. For units and schools under the Department, which have been assigned by competent authorities to carry out the renovation and repair of classrooms in 2025, phase 1 (16.2 billion VND) and phase 2 (11.6 billion VND), urgently implement the correct procedures, construction progress and complete and put into use before the new school year 2025 - 2026.
Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said: In order to gradually complete the school network in the area, the city has recently prioritized investment capital for the education sector. Every year, Hanoi adjusts and supplements the public investment plan, prioritizing capital allocation for school construction projects.
Localities also proactively allocate budget resources, accounting for about 50% of local public investment plans, to implement investment in building schools. Hanoi currently has nearly 80% of public schools meeting national standards. In the 2024-2025 school year, the city will build and establish 35 new schools.
