Launched in Vietnam since September 2023, Hyundai Palisade was once considered the new "trump card" in the large SUV segment, with many high-end equipment but the selling price is only close to the 7-seat SUV group (D-SUV). The car is expected to follow the success of its "younger brother" Santa Fe.
However, after more than a year on the market, Hyundai's flagship SUV is struggling to find a foothold. According to sales data from TC Motor, only 1,587 Palisades were sold in all of 2024, an average of more than 100 cars per month.
More worryingly, in the first half of 2025, sales continued to decline sharply, to only 431 vehicles, equivalent to less than 72 vehicles/month. With this result, Hyundai Palisade became one of the two worst-selling models of the Hyundai brand in Vietnam, along with Elantra.
Right from the beginning of the second quarter of 2025, TC Motor announced a program to support 50% of the registration fee for both versions of Palisade, equivalent to a reduction of 73 - 95 million VND depending on the place of vehicle registration. However, this program has not brought about clear results.
By July 2025, the Korean car company decided to increase the support level to 100% of the registration fee, lasting until the end of August. Thanks to that, customers who buy Hyundai Palisade at the present time will receive a direct discount of 146.9 - 158.9 million VND, depending on the version and place of registration.
Not stopping there, at dealerships, especially for vehicles manufactured in 2024 (VIN 2024), the reduction is even deeper.
A sales staff at a Hyundai dealership in Ho Chi Minh City said that for standard cars that need to be "cleared from stock", the dealership is applying a separate program, bringing the total incentives up to 240 million VND.
The actual price is only 1.239 billion VND, equal to the price of mid-range versions of Ford Everest or Toyota Fortuner.
However, the number of cars eligible for this great discount is not much. According to a survey, in Ho Chi Minh City, there are only about 7-8 Hyundai Palisade VIN 2024 cars that are being applied the maximum discount.
Hyundai Palisade in Vietnam is equipped with a 2.2L CRDi diesel engine, providing 200 horsepower and maximum torque of 440 Nm, with HTRAC full-time 4-wheel drive system. The car has 2 configuration options of 6 or 7 seats, integrating a series of advanced safety technologies in the Hyundai Smart Sense package.
Despite possessing many modern amenities and a majestic design, this model still has difficulty reaching Vietnamese customers, who prioritize brand, resale value and fuel economy in the 7-seat SUV segment.
