(Dan Tri) - Many excellent and disadvantaged students in Phu Yen were moved when receiving gifts and scholarships from teachers at Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted on the occasion of November 20.

On November 19, teachers of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted (Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province) organized a gift giving ceremony for nearly 250 books to many students of the school.

On this occasion, the school also awarded 12 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, to studious students with difficult circumstances.

Mr. Huynh Tan Chau, Principal of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted, said that every time Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20) comes around, parents are preoccupied with giving gifts to show their gratitude to teachers. This creates invisible pressure on parents. This worry is especially heavy for families in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Chau, realizing this problem, the school's teachers have long since stopped thinking about receiving gifts from parents and students on November 20. Instead, the school tries to mobilize social resources to give "reverse gifts" and scholarships to students.

"The gift is to encourage and motivate the students' efforts and hard work in studying during the past time," said Mr. Chau.

Talking about the meaning of the gift, Mr. Chau said that books are teachers for life. Giving students good books is like giving them good teachers, so that students can gain more knowledge and more good stories.

Besides, the book will let students know about many good things, contributing to enriching students' spiritual life, rich in humanity, creating a solid foundation of knowledge and skills so that they can have more joy and motivation, and study effectively.

Receiving the priceless gift from the teacher, many students were surprised and happy.

Vo Hong Sam, a 10th grade literature student at Luong Van Chanh High School, was surprised when he received a book for the first time on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

The book that Sam was given was called "Every fall is a step to maturity".

"I was very surprised because I didn't think I would receive books on a special occasion for teachers. We will study each page of the book to gain more knowledge," Sam shared.

Student Do Nguyen Ba Khai, grade 10 majoring in information technology, said he was very grateful and touched to receive gifts and scholarships from the school on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

"The teachers at the school not only teach us knowledge but also care about the spiritual life of the students. This is a source of encouragement and motivation to help us overcome adversity," Khai said.
