After announcing the 10th grade entrance exam scores, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training received a petition from a number of high schools in the area to lower the failing score from 1 to 0 on the grounds that they could not meet their enrollment targets. However, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee did not agree.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporters on the morning of July 4, Mr. Pham Dang Khoa, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, said that after the 10th grade exam results were released, the Department's leaders received a number of requests to lower the failing score from 1 to 0.

According to Mr. Khoa, the enrollment plan for public grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year in Dak Lak province is applied according to the current high school graduation exam regulations, in which the failing score is 1 point or less.

"The request of some high schools to reduce the failing score from 1 to 0 points cannot be resolved, the Provincial People's Committee has also unanimously disagreed because it violates regulations," Mr. Khoa informed.

According to statistics, in the recent 10th grade entrance exam, many high schools in Dak Lak province did not recruit enough students.

Specifically, Krong Ana High School (Krong Ana district) was assigned to enroll 484 students but was only able to enroll 292 students (192 students short). Phan Boi Chau High School (Krong Nang district) was assigned to enroll 440 students but was only able to enroll 261 students (179 students short).

Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Krong Pak district) was assigned to enroll 480 students but only recruited 362 students (118 students short). Cu M'gar High School (Cu M'gar district) was assigned to enroll 616 students but only recruited 532 students (84 students short).

Ngo Gia Tu High School (Ea Kar district) was assigned to enroll 528 students but was only able to enroll 461 students (67 students short). Buon Ho High School (Buon Ho town) was assigned to enroll 484 students but was only able to enroll 422 students (62 students short).

This lack of targets is partly due to 1,887 failing scores, of which Math accounts for the majority with 1,799 failing scores, Foreign Language has 14 failing scores and Literature has 74 failing scores.

The Department of Education and Training explains the reason why 1,799 10th grade math exams had failing scores . Of the nearly 2,000 failing scores for the 3 entrance exams to grade 10 in Dak Lak province, the number of failing scores for math accounted for 1,799 exams.
