Located far from the shore, adjacent to the Bai Tu Long Bay area of Van Don, the poetic and lyrical beauty of Cat Oan area on Ha Long Bay is enough to melt any tourist. This place is being studied, reviewed, and assessed for impacts by the Ha Long Bay Management Board in order to put it into operation to serve the flow of tourists who love to explore the tranquility of the beautiful natural landscape, away from the crowded areas in the coastal area of the heritage.
Cat Oan area consists of a cluster of many sandbanks, of which the largest sandbank emerges in the middle of the sea, connecting two rocky mountains on Ha Long Bay. Smaller sandbanks are located at the foot of the rocky mountains, and when the water is low you can walk from the large sandbank to this area. The beaches have smooth sand, clear water, and gentle waves lapping the shore, making for a very poetic scene. Coral fragments and shells are washed ashore at Cat Oan in a myriad of shapes and sizes. Towering rocky mountains with unique geological and geomorphological formations are covered by a diverse green tree system. Large, bare rocks in the middle of the sea create a strange, unique look for the Cat Oan area. The Tra Lam Vo tree blooms close to the mountainside in the Cat Oan area. This is also a type of tree that is abundant on the rocky mountains of Ha Long Bay.
