Surprised to become valedictorian

Vo Thi Van Anh is a former student of Thanh Xuan Trung Primary School ( Hanoi ). She surpassed more than 3,200 candidates to become the valedictorian of the 6th grade entrance exam of Cau Giay Secondary School with a total score of 28.75; specifically: 10 points in English, 9.75 points in Math, 9 points in Vietnamese.

Van Anh's passing as valedictorian surprised both her parents and herself. Van Anh had set a goal of passing the entrance exam to Cau Giay Secondary School early on, but her passing as valedictorian was still beyond the family's expectations. This result made her parents feel happy and proud.

In fact, Van Anh also passed the entrance exam to several other prestigious secondary schools in the city, but she chose Cau Giay Secondary School to study because she admired the tradition of passing the entrance exam to prestigious specialized high schools of her seniors in the school.

During her 5 years in primary school, Van Anh achieved the title of excellent student for all 5 years. According to Ms. Phan Thi Yen - Van Anh's mother - the secret to helping her child study well is to always accompany her, set goals with her, make specific plans with her, and help her find suitable classes, teachers, and friends.

When facing the transition period, she and her child set a goal that the child needs to try to study well, do well in exams to study in a high-quality school, with good teachers, excellent classmates... When the child and she agree to set such a goal, the child will have the awareness to try hard, be proactive, self-aware and cooperate well.

When facing the 6th grade entrance exam, Ms. Yen tried to make her child feel as comfortable as possible. She affirmed that taking the exam is an opportunity for her child to test his own knowledge, and at the same time, it is an opportunity to open the door to an ideal learning environment.

You take the exam for your own academic future. Whether you pass or fail, your parents will always be there to support you, following you closely with the appropriate directions and choices in each situation and stage.

Yen and her husband pay great attention to doing a good job of psychological work for their child, so that he is both comfortable and determined when taking the exam.

Ms. Yen said that her family sees exams as an opportunity for her children to experience themselves, to know their strengths and weaknesses, and to try harder. The most important thing on their journey to adulthood is for them to know themselves, to try harder and improve.

Orientation for balanced and comprehensive development

Yen and her husband aim to help Van Anh develop a balance in her studies and life. When in class, she will focus on listening to the lecture. When she is home, her parents will spend time studying with her, if she needs help. She attends extra classes about 2-3 times a week.

Between class hours, children go swimming, learn to dance, draw, read, play games, go to friends' houses to play or go out with their parents...

This is a way for children to reduce stress in studying and always maintain a balanced state so that they can always absorb knowledge and study best. Van Anh's parents and her agree that only when they feel comfortable can they "study". Therefore, the family sets a goal of studying less, but studying effectively.

When her child faced the very important years of secondary school, which were also full of challenges with psychological and physiological changes, Ms. Yen said that she helped her child prepare mentally. She helped her child understand that the learning environment in secondary school was not like primary school, and that the child would need to be more proactive, make more efforts, and seriously plan for himself.

However, you do not need to be too stressed, because your parents will always be there for you, so you can comfortably share any problems. When you trust them to share, your parents will be able to find the most effective way to support you.

Currently, Van Anh is very interested in learning foreign languages and drawing. Yen and her husband's orientation in raising their daughter is to help her find a balance in studying and developing herself. She hopes that despite her efforts and determination in studying, her daughter will always be gentle, feminine, skillful, have good soft skills, and know how to communicate effectively.

Currently, she encourages her daughter to draw, learn to cook, help her mother with housework... She doesn't want her daughter to become a "bookworm" who only knows how to study. She hopes that Van Anh will know how to take care of herself, have independent living skills, so that when her parents are not around to take care of her, she can still manage well on her own.

Regarding Van Anh, she revealed that when facing the 6th grade aptitude tests, she felt anxious, but thinking about the goals she had set for herself, she quickly regained her composure. In addition, Van Anh is grateful to her parents for always being understanding, helping her feel comfortable in studying and taking exams.

Children also know how to take care of themselves to ensure good performance before important times, such as before an exam, they will go to bed early, so that the next day they will be alert and have the best energy during the exam.
