Việt NamViệt Nam05/06/2024

On June 4, the short video sharing app TikTok of the Chinese company Bytedance said it had successfully prevented a cyber attack targeting famous accounts, including that of the US cable news network CNN.

According to a TikTok spokesperson, the number of compromised accounts was small, but they included accounts of celebrities and major brands, including CNN. TikTok has increased its security capabilities to prevent hacker attacks.

The spokesperson added that TikTok will work directly with affected account owners to restore access if requested.

The app does not specify how the attackers carried out the attack, but media reports suggest the attack involved the direct messaging feature.

New York City-based news site Semafor was the first media outlet to report that CNN's account was hacked last week.
