" I think in the middle of the second set, I showed signs of losing my stamina. That was the most difficult time. In the third set, I was behind from the start. At that time, I just told myself to try harder, fight to the end and never give up, " Nguyen Thuy Linh shared after successfully defending her Vietnam Open badminton title.

Nguyen Thuy Linh met Kurihara in the final. In the world badminton rankings, Thuy Linh ranked 27th, 129 places higher than her opponent. However, that gap was erased as the match progressed.

Thuy Linh encountered many difficulties due to poor physical condition.

Thuy Linh encountered many difficulties due to poor physical condition.

Thuy Linh started well in the first set, winning 21-14. However, in the second set, she lost 11-21. Thuy Linh showed signs of fatigue in this set as well as the first half of the third set. However, her experience, bravery and the support of the home crowd helped the Phu Tho player come back in the second half of the deciding set. She came back to win 21-19, thereby winning 2-1 overall.

Thuy Linh entered the tournament without the best physical preparation. Before the Vietnam Open 2023, in less than 1 month, Thuy Linh participated in 3 tournaments: the 2023 World Championship (held in Denmark), the 2023 China Open (held in China) and the 2023 National Individual Badminton Championship (held in Bac Giang ).

" I feel very happy and proud. This is my fourth consecutive tournament. My physical strength is not guaranteed but I fought until the last minute. I am proud of that ," Thuy Linh expressed.

Looking forward to the 19th ASIAD at the end of September, Thuy Linh affirmed: " I will compete with all my might for the country's flag and bring the best results for the Fatherland ."
