General Secretaries of Vietnam and China exchange New Year greetings

On February 2, 2024 (ie December 23, Quy Mao year), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping exchanged New Year greetings on the occasion of the people of Vietnam and China preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.

In their congratulatory letters, the two General Secretaries expressed their delight at the positive development trend and important progress in the relations between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China in all aspects since General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's historic visit to China in October 2022 right after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The top leaders of the two Parties especially appreciated the important milestone and rich results of the State visit to Vietnam in December 2023 by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, especially the event when the two sides issued a Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and further enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, signing 36 cooperation documents, demonstrating the determination of both sides and creating an important strategic orientation for the long-term development of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries in the new period.

Looking forward to 2024, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hopes that the sectors, levels and localities of the two countries will thoroughly grasp and well implement the high-level agreements and common perceptions that have been reached, promoting the healthy, stable development of Vietnam-China relations and deepening the practical and effective development for the development and interests of the people of the two countries and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping hopes that the two sides will bring bilateral relations to a new height, promote exchanges and cooperation in all channels, at all levels and in all fields with high level and quality, adding momentum to the modernization cause of the two countries, and making greater contributions to the cause of peace and progress of mankind.

The two General Secretaries wished the Party, State and People of the two countries a peaceful, healthy and happy New Year, and that Vietnam and China develop more and more prosperously.
