Summary of the pilot program of teaching Korean in high schools

(DN) - On the morning of July 8, the Department of Education and Training in collaboration with the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of the province, Lac Hong University and ViSang Vietnam Education Company Limited organized a summary of the pilot program of teaching Korean to high school students in Dong Nai province.

The pilot program to teach Korean in high schools started on October 10, 2024, with about 300 students initially registering. However, due to their own schedules, only more than 100 students attended the entire course. The three high schools with the largest number of students participating were: Dau Giay (54 students), Chu Van An (24 students) and Luong The Vinh (18 students).

The pilot Korean language teaching program is implemented in two forms: in-person and online via the Zoom platform. In addition to teaching, the program also organizes activities to experience Korean culture. At the end of the course, 27 students were classified as excellent, 53 students were classified as good, and 25 students were classified as fair.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of the province, hopes that with the initial success, the program will be expanded to many high schools in the province. Mr. Binh also asked the relevant parties to frankly evaluate the pilot program, clearly stating the difficulties to find solutions to overcome them for implementation in the next phase.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Do Dang Bao Linh, the pilot program has had positive results. However, because the teaching method is mainly online, there are certain limitations. The Department of Education and Training will report to the Provincial People's Committee on the summary of the pilot program to support teaching Korean at high schools in the province, and at the same time, have an assessment to develop an implementation plan for the next phase.
