Ho Chi Minh City will hand over land for high-speed railway construction in December 2026.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete compensation, support, resettlement and site handover for the North-South high-speed railway project by December 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement compensation and site clearance for the North-South high-speed railway project passing through the city.

According to the plan, the preparation work will be implemented in July 2025. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the investor to urgently carry out procedures, prepare and submit for appraisal and approval the Investment Project to build a resettlement area to serve the Project.

The city aims to approve the resettlement area project before August 19, 2025.

At the same time, the investor is also assigned to carry out procedures related to the preparation, submission for appraisal and approval of the Compensation, Support and Resettlement Project. The completion deadline is October 2025.

The North-South high-speed railway section passing through Ho Chi Minh City is 13.49 km long.

The city aims to complete the construction of the resettlement area before December 2026 and complete compensation, support, resettlement, and site handover to implement the Project in December 2026.

Regarding the orientation of exploiting land funds according to the urban development model associated with public transport (TOD), the City requires relevant departments, branches and localities to review land funds located in the vicinity of railway stations and depots.

The review must be completed in August 2025, to serve the work of compensation, support, resettlement, and creation of TOD land fund, striving to complete in the third quarter of 2026.

According to preliminary review results, the North-South high-speed railway section through Ho Chi Minh City has a land occupation area of about 110 hectares.

Of which, the main route is 13.49 km long, passing through An Khanh, Binh Trung, Long Truong and Long Phuoc wards, occupying about 32.2 hectares; Thu Thiem station area about 17.3 hectares; Long Truong depot about 60.5 hectares.

The total cost for compensation, support and resettlement for the section through Ho Chi Minh City is expected to be more than VND 2,575 billion.
