Semiconductor Industry Expo 2024: Stepping into the Global Value Chain

DNVN - Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024 (SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024) on the morning of November 7, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the exhibition is an event marking an important step forward for Vietnam in its efforts to participate in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry.

SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 with the theme "Elevating Vietnam in the global semiconductor supply chain" taking place from November 7-8) is the first and largest international semiconductor exhibition held in Vietnam.

Vietnam is facing the opportunity to participate deeply in the semiconductor industry and has clearly expressed its desire to become a link in the global semiconductor supply chain. Vietnam's semiconductor market is expected to reach 7.01 billion USD by 2028, with an average annual industry growth rate of about 6.69% in the period 2023 - 2028.

To effectively take advantage of this opportunity, the Government has established a National Steering Committee for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry, with the Prime Minister as the Head of the Steering Committee and the Minister of Planning and Investment as the Standing Deputy Head. At the same time, the Government has issued the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050 in Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024; the Program for Human Resource Development of the Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050 in Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 is an event that marks an important step forward for Vietnam in its efforts to participate in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry. Semiconductors are considered the “heart” of modern technology and the foundation for the digital economy .

Held for the first time in Vietnam, SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 attracted the participation of more than 5,000 delegates and 100 booths from major technology partners in the semiconductor field such as Cadence, Qualcomm, Intel, Qorvo, Dassault Systemes, Siemens, Tektronix, FPT, Viettel... Along with that is the large participation of components in the semiconductor ecosystem such as research institutes, universities, investment funds, businesses, organizations, associations, domestic and foreign experts.

SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 with many seminars and sideline activities will be an opportunity to connect Vietnam with the world in the semiconductor field. That is to introduce Vietnam's potential and advantages to the world's semiconductor businesses; opening up opportunities for Vietnam to participate in the stages of this industry.

The exhibition also clearly demonstrates the spirit of cooperation and companionship of the world semiconductor community with the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry, together towards a future of rapid and sustainable development. In addition, it contributes to promoting the business environment, investment opportunities, and development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

Within the framework of SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024, the Semiconductor Dialogue Program with domestic and foreign semiconductor enterprises chaired by the Minister of Planning and Investment is a high-level forum for exchanging and sharing best practices of the semiconductor industry from international and Vietnamese experts, business leaders, and policy makers. With the aim of promoting the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, the program is part of the Ministry of Planning and Investment's efforts to create a favorable environment for discussing national strategies, investing in infrastructure, and building practical support policies for the semiconductor industry.

Through this, Vietnam can participate effectively and proactively in all stages of the semiconductor supply chain, helping to maximize Vietnam's advantages and turn Vietnam into an attractive destination for major investors in this field.
