(CLO) The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Saturday that North Korea has seized and released images of a South Korean military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that crashed in the country.

"Based on the shape of the drone, the estimated flight time, the leaflet-dropping box attached to the lower part of the drone's fuselage, etc., it is very likely that this drone was the one that dropped leaflets in downtown Pyongyang. But the conclusion has not yet been made," KCNA said.

The South Korean government has refused to say whether such drones are used and, if so, whether they are used by the military or civilians.

"...if the ROK's (South Korea) military measures infringing upon the territory of the DPRK by land, air and sea are detected and confirmed again, it will be regarded as a grave military provocation against the sovereignty of the DPRK and will be immediately followed by a declaration of war and retaliatory attack," KCNA added.

Tensions between the two Koreas have escalated since North Korea began launching balloons carrying trash across the border into South Korea in late May, with Seoul responding by restarting its propaganda broadcasts.

In recent days, North Korea has accused the South Korean military of flying drones to drop leaflets over the capital Pyongyang for three days this month and threatened to cause a “horrible disaster” if any more drones are found in its skies.
