At HANIFF 2024, Future Shell not only celebrates art but also delivers a global message about fighting climate change.

The artist wants to convey a strong message about environmental protection, encouraging people to act together for a sustainable future.

This is an opportunity for delegates who are filmmakers, distributors, and domestic and foreign film artists to admire and reflect on their role in protecting the planet.

Artist Nguyen Kim Duc also published 500 prints to give to hundreds of domestic and international delegates.

The painting Future Shell is painted in watercolor on traditional Vietnamese silk, depicting an ancient, gaunt tree with its roots submerged in polluted water, with a gloomy sky above.

The delicate details in the work not only depict natural beauty but also evoke deep thoughts about the future, reminding people of their responsibility to protect the living environment.

Despite its dark tones, the painting still contains a small ray of light - a symbol of hope that humanity will soon awaken and change.

The overall style of the work bears a resemblance to the artist Van Gogh - who was famous for his ability to express the deeper nature of his subjects - beyond what we see on the surface.

The work Future Shell was first introduced at the 2019 Vesak Festival and most recently displayed at the 2023 Vietnamese Lotus - Pure Beauty exhibition organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam.
