This is the first flight of China's third generation of astronauts and the first time civilian astronauts have participated in a space mission, the China Manned Space Administration said.

The mission of this group of three astronauts includes a five-month intensive research stay in Tiangong, taking over the work from colleagues from the Shenzhou 15 mission - ending a six-month working mission here.

The list of the group of 3 astronauts on the Shenzhou-16 spacecraft includes the head of the delegation, Major General Jing Haipeng, aerospace engineer Zhou Yangzhu, and Mr. Gui Haichao (36 years old), a professor at the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (Beihang University). Mr. Gui Haichao is the first civilian in China to fly into space.

China says the Tiangong space station will be the first open to all United Nations member states and scientific experiments from 11 different countries will be conducted on it.
