On October 10, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Portcoast Design Consulting Company officially put into use the digital transformation project of the entire school space at both campuses.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology: Digitizing the entire management system

Accordingly, the project shows the 3D space of 29 buildings and 50 typical laboratories of 12 faculties, training centers, research centers, and libraries of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology on a digital platform through a high-quality 360-degree image system. Users will have an overview of the learning and living environment at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, meeting the school's communication and remote enrollment needs.

In addition, experts from international inspection organizations can use the project to evaluate the infrastructure criteria without spending much time and money. Here, Portcoast also introduces functions that allow teachers to directly note the damaged points of the equipment on the 360-degree image of this platform, after which the platform will automatically notify the correct location of the equipment to the staff in charge via email. This is also a new feature compared to 3D Virtual Tour virtual reality experience platforms, which usually only provide experiences with 360 images. When integrated into the virtual reality project, the above "dynamic" features will help provide accurate and detailed information about the school's infrastructure system, helping the school optimize management, maintenance, repair, etc.

Portcoast has initially integrated a number of e-books onto the digital platform, allowing students to share the database at the same time without any limitations on space or access time. In the virtual space of the library, students can move to the bookshelf and select a digitized book to read. Portcoast has applied many modern technologies and equipment such as coordinate and elevation positioning technology with GPS Trimble R12i, GPS Leica GS18i, Robotic Total Station Leica TS60 devices; 3D Laser Scanning technology with Mobile Mapping Trimble MX50 device, Laser scanning device Leica P50, Laser RTC 360,... to build this project.

Users can experience the project on many different platforms, from computers to phones/iPads and virtual reality glasses (VR glasses).

It is known that this is the next step of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology after digitizing lectures, administrative work, and academic management system. And coordinating with businesses to carry out this digitalization project is also one of the right directions in the goal of promoting comprehensive digital transformation in education management in general and at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in particular.
