Head of military department admits to harassing female students

Hai Phong Head of Military Faculty, Center for National Defense and Security Education, Hai Phong University admitted to using vulgar language and harassing students over the phone.

The information was provided in a report sent by Hai Phong University to the city People's Committee on June 26. Mr. Pham The Dung, Head of the Military Department of the Center for National Defense and Security Education, was suspended so that the school could conduct a review.

According to Hai Phong University, the General Staff of Military Region 3 previously sent a dispatch requesting coordination to resolve the matter. The school's Party Committee Inspection Committee also decided to investigate Mr. Dung's signs of violations.

A few days ago, many articles and 7 videos were circulated on social media accusing a male lecturer of calling a female student and using vulgar language, sexually harassing her. According to the articles, the harassed female student is a second-year student, who is studying military training with 134 other students at the center for three weeks, ending on June 17.

The Center for National Defense and Security Education of Hai Phong University was established in 2003. This is a place for studying and training in national defense education for students of universities, colleges, and vocational high schools in provinces and cities under Military Region III (Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Ha Nam).

The center currently has 6 student management companies. Before becoming the Head of the Military Department, Mr. Pham The Dung was the captain of company 6.
