Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted won first prize in the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City student singing contest

On September 6, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held the closing ceremony and awarded prizes for the contest "The cicada's singing voice for students and trainees of the city in 2024". This year, the contest has the theme "Proud of students of the city named after Uncle Ho".

The final round results ranked in group A (high schools using bands), the first prize was awarded to the group "Lua Tran Chuyen" (Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted) with the performance "The Fatherland in the mother's lullaby". The group performed the songs: I love my Fatherland, The roof of the village's communal house, The melody of the Fatherland, A round of Vietnam, Medley of pride in the city I love - Hello 50 years of the city shining in His name.

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted won first prize

Second prizes were awarded to Phu Nhuan High School (Phu Nhuan District), Mac Dinh Chi High School (District 6). Third prizes went to Nguyen Thuong Hien High School (Tan Binh District), Marie Curie High School (District 3) and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (District 5).

In addition to group A, the organizing committee also awarded prizes to units with high rankings in groups A1 (Department of Education and Training using bands), group B (high schools using music discs), B1 (Department of Education and Training using music discs), and units participating by performance.

Performances at the final round

Mr. Duong Tri Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the contest is a healthy and useful summer playground for students in the city, and is also an opportunity for art troupes of schools to introduce themselves and exchange and learn from other units.

Through that, the contest has contributed to promoting cultural and artistic activities, creating conditions for developing movement activities in secondary schools, high schools, and continuing education centers. After 26 times of organization, the program has increasingly attracted the participation of many units, the performances have invested in beautiful, new and more professional costumes.

This year’s competition had the largest number of entries with 91 participating units. A total of 12,000 students, teachers and parents participated in the performances and cheered on the performances.

"The Little Cicada's Song" is a contest for students studying at secondary schools, high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers, continuing education centers, and affiliated secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City. Through many forms of performance such as solo, duet, trio, group singing, and choir, the contestants brought many meaningful performances to the contest, demonstrating the youthfulness of the city's student generation.
