Vietnam team lost to China, fans criticized: 'Deserved defeat'

"In football, winning and losing is normal, the problem is how to lose. The Vietnamese team lost two very silly goals. The first goal, the Chinese player stood face to face with the goalkeeper in the 16m50 box without anyone marking him. The second goal was a very careless pass by Hoang Duc ," reader Phong Hai commented on VTC News.

After 3 consecutive wins without conceding a goal, the Vietnamese team suffered its first defeat under coach Philippe Troussier. Que Ngoc Hai and his teammates lost 0-2 to the Chinese team on away ground. Both of the goals conceded by the Vietnamese team came in the second half.

"Deserved loss, deserved red card", fan Huu Hoang commented in a football forum on social network Facebook. Another account named Ngoc Tan Le wrote: " If it was just to test the players, no one would get more than 5 points in this match. I don't understand how they trained but everyone is underperforming".

The Vietnamese team played well against the Chinese team in the first half. Coach Troussier's players controlled the ball more and created equal chances to the home team. In the second half, the Chinese team played more effectively and scored 2 goals from poor defensive situations of the Vietnamese team.

Of course, with this defeat, the Vietnamese team could not avoid criticism. Besides the opinions criticizing Mr. Troussier, many fans believed that the players were the ones mainly responsible for this defeat.

"This match was an extremely painful lesson for the whole team. Mr. Troussier put his strongest squad on the field, but the attitude of many individuals was really the problem. At the end of the second half, the young players entered the field and saw them play with passion, but the older players coordinated superficially, so they were completely out of place. There were many mistakes to analyze, but the result was already decided. The rest is for the whole team to self-criticize," a fan expressed his opinion.

Many players received criticism, a fan named Duong Kinh harshly said: " In the past, Quang Hai and Van Hau were outstanding compared to their age group. At only 18 or 20, they were already pillars of Hanoi FC in the V-League. Only then did they deserve to be called up to the national team despite their young age. But now, young players who sit on the bench all year round at their clubs are called up, feeling that wearing the national team shirt is too easy ."

An account named Manh Tuan questioned coach Troussier: " Testing? When will the testing last? Testing all the players playing in the First Division ?"

A rare comment in support of the Vietnamese team.

Of course, with their unconvincing performance, the Vietnamese team received criticism from the public, which is understandable. The 0-2 loss and the somewhat lackluster playing style cannot reassure fans at this time. However, there are still fans who are patient with Coach Troussier despite their obvious disappointment. This patience will decrease over time if the Vietnamese team does not improve their playing style and results.

"A match full of individual errors, lack of structure, slow attack deployment," commented reader Van Hung. Reader Tran Hoang had a different opinion: "Winning and losing is a common thing in football. However, we should sympathize and need enough time for the head coach to follow the philosophy he pursues."

But amid the storm of criticism, there are still comments hoping for more positive things. Fan Le Quang Tuan commented: " The Chinese team won 2-0, but they really didn't play well, we lost due to a moment of lack of concentration. Coach Troussier's playing style needs time to perfect, especially with the Southeast Asian lowlands, patience is needed ."
