U23 Vietnam is in a fairly easy group at U23 Southeast Asia 2023

Accordingly, U23 Vietnam falls into group C with the appearance of U23 Laos and U23 Philippines.

These are all opponents that are rated much lower than the red team.

Meanwhile, in Group A, U23 Thailand will face U23 Cambodia, U23 Brunei and U23 Myanmar.

In Group B, U23 Indonesia is expected to have difficulty when facing a tough opponent, U23 Malaysia, and also U23 East Timor.

In the group stage, the teams will compete in a round robin format. The three group winners and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals.

The two semi-final winners will face each other for the championship, the two losing teams will meet in the third-place match.

The 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will kick off from August 15 to August 27 in Thailand. This is the fourth time the tournament has been held, with the previous three being in 2005, 2019 and 2022.

The time when the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 kicks off is also when the 2023 V-League will begin the second phase of the season. Meanwhile, the national first division will also play the second leg.

Therefore, it is likely that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will only send the U20 team to compete in this year's tournament.

In addition, this is also considered a stepping stone for Vietnamese football towards the ASIAD in Hangzhou (China) taking place next September.

At the 2022 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, U23 Vietnam under the leadership of coach Dinh The Nam won the championship after defeating Thailand in the final match.
