Due to the severe damage caused by the recent floods in the western Nghe An region, 12 domestic water supply systems, 3 water supply works and 71,570m of domestic water pipes were severely damaged and could not operate, affecting the lives of local people.

Faced with that reality, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An assigned the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of Nghe An to review and count the damage, promptly propose solutions... Through the National Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment proposed and was approved by Unicef to support equipment, tools, chemicals... to treat clean water to help people in flooded areas.

During the period from August 2 to 5, in 5 communes that suffered serious damage in Western Nghe An, the working group presented support of 500 water tanks (1,000 liter type) and tools, equipment, and chemicals for clean water treatment. Specifically, My Ly commune received 160 water tanks, 160 hygiene packages, and 30,000 Aquatab tablets; Huu Kiem commune received 90 water tanks, 90 hygiene packages, and 30,000 Aquatab tablets; Muong Xen commune received 60 water tanks, 60 hygiene packages, and 30,000 Aquatab tablets; Tuong Duong commune received 100 water tanks, 100 hygiene packages, and 30,000 Aquatab tablets; Currently, the road to Nhon Mai commune can only be accessed by small vehicles (about 3 tons), so 90 temporary water tanks will be left in My Ly commune and will be transported to the people (after large trucks can enter). It is expected that on August 6, the delegation will go directly to Nhon Mai commune to provide technical guidance on clean water treatment and support 90 hygiene packages, 30,000 Aquatab tablets, and many tools and equipment for clean water treatment...

With meaningful and timely actions of relevant levels, sectors and international organizations, people in the flooded areas of Western Nghe An have gradually overcome difficulties and soon stabilized their lives.
