Saigon Shipping (SGS) series of leaders resign right before the General Meeting of Shareholders

Saigon Shipping Corporation (Code SGS) has just announced that it has received resignation letters from the company's leaders, including: Chairman of the Board of Directors - Mr. Le Minh; Member of the Board of Directors - Ms. Huynh Nhu Y; Member of the Board of Supervisors - Ms. Duong Thi Kim Kieu.

All three leaders resigned for family reasons. Notably, Ms. Duong Thi Kim Kieu submitted her resignation three times. The first time was on May 25, 2022, Ms. Kieu submitted her resignation but it was not approved. In June 2022, she continued to submit her resignation. However, in September 2023, the Court annulled the Resolution of the 7/2022 Shareholders' Meeting of Saigon Shipping, so she was still unable to resign.

In addition, General Director - Mr. Pham Van Huong also submitted a resignation letter from June 20, 2024 for the reason of transferring the company.

Thus, in just a short time, 4 key leaders of Saigon Shipping have submitted their resignations. One leader has submitted his resignation 3 times and the mass resignations took place right before the annual general meeting of shareholders. The annual general meeting of Saigon Shipping will take place on July 10, 2024.

Regarding business activities, in 2023, Saigon Shipping achieved revenue of VND 222 billion, down 13% over the same period. Profit after tax increased by 7% to VND 49 billion, the highest since its operation.

Entering the first quarter of 2024, SGS recorded net revenue of VND 49 billion and profit after tax of VND 7.6 billion, down 3.8% and 35% respectively over the same period last year.

Regarding the composition of shareholders of Saigon Shipping, the company's charter capital is recorded at 144 billion VND with SAMCO as the parent company holding a controlling stake of 51%. SAMCO is a state-owned company operating in multiple business sectors with the main fields being the production of mechanical products for transportation and the provision of high-quality transportation services.
